When are Green Mountain Power’s peak hours?
Green Mountain Power’s peak hours are 1pm–9pm on all 2 of its time-of-use plans. Everything outside those hours is off-peak. Weekends are off-peak all day.
At peak, Rate 11: Optional Residential TOD charges 32.9¢ a kWh; off-peak it is 14.6¢ — 2.2× apart. Prices from the filed tariff.
These hours only apply if you are on a time-of-use plan. Green Mountain Power’s default plan, Rate 01 Residential Service, charges one rate at every hour of the day. A household that never switched has no peak hours to avoid — and no cheap hours to use.

What is it worth to move a load out of peak?
On Rate 11: Optional Residential TOD, every kilowatt-hour a day you move from 1pm to midnight is worth about $66 a year in the month the gap is widest. An electric car charging 10 kWh a night, or a water heater on a timer, is the kind of load that actually moves.
